How To Setup CoSolvent Community Server on AWS
Getting Started:
In order to use CoSolvent Community Server (Production or Enterprise), you will need to acquire the iPOV DevPay AMI with your Amazon AWS account.
After you acquire the AMI, iPOV will help you complete the configuration and setup process.
If you do not already have an Amazon AWS account, setup step #1 (see below) will walk you through registering for an account. Registration is free and easy. Once you have registered for an account, follow the directions in step #2 below to purchase the iPOV DevPay AMI. (Note: Amazon will also allow you to create an account when you attempt to purchase the AMI, if you do not already have one.)
In order for iPOV to perform the setup and configuration of your new CoSolvent Community Server (Production or Enterprise), you will need to provide iPOV with your Amazon AWS credentials so that we can log in via your account. For security reasons, we recommend that you do NOT email this information. Instead, contact iPOV and we will provide a secure, encrypted upload location where you can send us your AWS login and account ID.
Note: Customers who wish to perform their own setup are free to do so. Steps #3 and #4 (see "advanced setup instructions") will walk you through the process, should you choose to do so. However, these steps are NOT required, and most users will likely prefer to have iPOV perform the configuration and setup process for them.
Step 1 - Sign up for Amazon Web Services (AWS)
From http://aws.amazon.com, click on the prominent "Sign Up Now" button:
CCS on AWS 1Registering for an Amazon AWS account should be quick and easy. If you do have problems, the process is documented extensively on the AWS website. Some of the documentation may refer to command line tools, APIs, or other advanced concepts. Keep in mind that none of these are needed for you to use the CoSolvent Community Server.
NOTE: If you already have an account on Amazon.com, the site may prompt you to use that here. iPOV strongly recommend that you do NOT use a personal account here, as this will create confusion when you receive bills. Unless you already have an existing AWS account, we recommend that you set up an account using a corporate email address. It can also be advantageous to use a generic corporate 'alias' or 'nickname' so that the account can be easily shared between two or more responsible parties, if needed. If a corporate account is not available, you may wish to consider establishing a third party account (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) account specifically to handle AWS login and billing.
Step 2 - Purchase the CoSolvent Community Server AMI
This information will be coming soon. The purchase process will take you through a couple steps on the AWS web site. If you need assistance or more information, feel free to Contact iPOV
At this point, your purchase is complete and you can contact iPOV to begin the configuration and setup of your CoSolvent Community Server Production edition. If you want to maintain complete control over your AWS account, you can follow the advanced setup instructions to complete your setup.
