When you work all day with serious pressures to capture and share knowledge, you have to maintain at least a sense of humor. Every now and then, iPOV has turned away from its day-to-day challenges to create items that were just for fun. This gallery lists some of the ones that were amusing, a bit whimsical, or perhaps just plain odd.

The Famous 2-sec. Japanese Tee Shirt Folding Technique

This is sort of serious, but the subject matter always catches people unawares the first time they see it. They sort of ask 'say what?' Fortunately, this work instruction has an important impact. Constructing this document is trickier than it looks. There are two key challenges: The original was authored in Microsoft Word. It's not widely known, but Word can embed Flash movies. However, they don't behave particularly well and, at least so far, we don't think they're an ideal way to distribute this type of document. Also, we haven't found a way to export the Flash movie in the Word version as a pdf. You can export the standard text, but you must re-drop the video clips in Adobe Acrobat Pro. While it is easy to embed a Flash movie in a pdf, the pdf document has weak play controls. If you want to pause, play or slide a tracker bar, they must be programmed directly into the Flash clip before you place it in the pdf. iPOV has specialized tools for that purpose. Neither problem is insurmountable. They are, however, fairly tricky and perhaps sufficient reason to ask iPOV to help with the construction.

Capn Bob (www.bobville.com) is a gifted artist and Flash animator that worked for us for several years - before going off to strike his fortune as a freelance artist.
